Top 3 Reasons Not to Buy a Macbook Pro
All week I have been watching people bidding on penny auctions site Beezid.com for the Macbook Pro computers that they currently have up for auction, and I have been busily cleaning up at the other, more worthwhile auctions. I do not understand why you would want one of these things, even if you can get it for about 90% off the retail price. The one thing that I do know is that Apple has one of the most remarkable marketing machines in place since Richard Nixon won a second term. The one very poignant thing that those two marketing campaigns have in common is that if you believe in them, you are believing in an out-and-out lie. Here are my top 3 reasons why you should not bother to buy a new Macbook Pro:
1. Exploding batteries
Seriously. There have been instances in which the batteries in these machines has simply blown up. As little as I know about computers, I can tell you this one thing for certain: your battery should not blow up. This has been documented in many, many cases, and if they don’t actually explode, they could simply swell up, which would cause the case of your laptop to be bent out of shape along the way, rendering your machine in a topsy-turvy mess of wrong angles. The best case scenario seems to be that your battery will just plain stop working.
2. Can’t take the heat
It seems like everything that’s bad about the Macbook Pro ends up with it being too hot, and then no longer working. If, by some chance, the vents on your laptop should become clogged, your Macbook Pro will just go ahead and shut itself off, tell you to get real about life, and recommend to you that you go buy a real computer.
3. You can get it cheaper
Let’s say that you were to spend $1,200 on a Macbook Pro. That will get you 160GB of hard drive space, and 2GB of RAM. That seems pretty good, until you consider that when you buy a PC that isn’t from Apple, you could get 320GB of hard drive and 4GB or RAM and NOT ONLY THAT, but you could also get a larger monitor for – wait for it – for HALF of the price that you would pay if you bought a Macbook.
The choice is clear: buying a Macbook means that you are not only out of pocket, but also out of your mind.
